I love a well written book on the subject of neuroscience. I’ve just bought the book, ‘Life Time’ by Russell Foster, Professor of Circadian Neuroscience at the University of Oxford. It explains that listening to our body clock as well as the one on our wrist, vastly improves our quality of life.
When I mention `Body Clock’ to most clients, they say something about sleep. So I’ll start there. What is the benefit of getting enough sleep? It increases our ability to concentrate and pay attention and in turn aids memory. This improves our creativity and decision making. It also helps us to be more sociable and less grumpy which is always a bonus.
Sufficient sleep helps to reduce stress and stabilise our mood. It also makes us less impulsive which is massively helpful if you are trying to cut down on caffeine, smoking or alcohol.
So how we consistently get a better night’s sleep?
Clue:- Tune in to our body clock
